- The Mendenhall Glacier is located 13 miles from downtown Juneau,
Alaska. Come prepared with clothing that is warm even when wet - such
as wool and polar fleece - and with items that can be layered. more>

Thin Ice and Rolling Icebergs - Maintain a safe
distance from the face of the glacier at all seasons. Massive
building-sized chunks of ice "calve" or fall off the face suddenly and
unexpectedly, causing severe damage to anybody under them and creating
waves that can sweep the unwary into the frigid waters of the lake. Please
