south central Manitoba.
The Pembina Valley is bordered by the Red
River to the east, the Manitoba Escarpment to
the west, the United States border to the south and the City of
Winnipeg and Highway #2 to the north. The Valley encompasses some 41
communities, all rich in culture, heritage and tourist related sites
and activities.

Visit Altona "The Sunflower Capital Of Canada",
and the annual
Sunflower Festival. Altona is also home to the largest replica of a
famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh.
It was named 'The largest painting on an easel by The Guinness Book of
World Records
in 1998. The base (easel) stands at 76'6"
and the canvas is made by laminating together 24 sheets of 3/4" plywood
and splattering it with 17 gallons of paint to create the picture.
Visit Modern and
District Museum with the largest collection of prehistoric marine
reptile fossils in North America (from the Colorado Sea that
covered much of north America 80 million years ago).
